Wayne Harbin Builder and the 2006 Habitat for Humanity Builder's Blitz

Habitat for Humanity - Home builders Blitz 2006: Home Builders and Haabitat: Partnering to build 1,000 homes

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Wayne Harbin Builder was pleased to be able to participate in the 2006 Habitat for Humanity Builder's Blitz. The rancher style home was constructed June 3 - 9th, at 4358 Ironbound Road in James City County, across from New Town. We are pleased to have dedicated the house and the new homeowners have already moved in.

"It is our good fortune to be able to give back and serve the community in this way, enlisting the help of our suppliers, subcontractors, employees and business associates," said Wayne Harbin, president.

This house was being constructed in a national effort to build 1,000 houses in one week, highlighting the contributions of the building industry to the communities where they work and build.

"We have enjoyed growth in our company and industry, and we are thrilled to be able to make the dream of home ownership come true for a hard-working area citizen and her family," said Wayne.

The homeowner for this completed house will be Gloria Merritt and her three children. Gloria works for the Williamsburg-James City County school district as a teacher's assistant and is working towards her associate's degree. Her oldest daughter Lauren, 16, also plans to be college bound in the next few years. Michaela, 4, and Isaiah, 2, will be headed to school soon as well.

"We are so excited about our new house. We've driven by the site on Ironbound Road and wondered who it would be for — and I can't believe it's going to be us," Merritt said. "I'm very grateful to Habitat and Wayne Harbin Builder for making this happen for our family."

The Merritt family moved in to their new home after it was dedicated on June 16th. The dedication ceremony was attended by James City County Board of Supervisors member John McGlennon, representatives of Ferguson Enterprises and Peninsula Habitat for Humanity, employees of Wayne Harbin Builder and friends and family of Wayne Harbin Builder.
